A Curaçao-licensed casino is an offshore site licensed by Curaçao’s gaming regulator, now the Curaçao Gaming Authority (CGA). Our Canada online casino reviews cover the Curacao licensed casinos Canada players can join, and this article explains what that licence really means.
The legal age for real-money play in Canada is 19 in most provinces and 18 in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec. The video below is Adam Tracy’s English video on the new Curaçao gaming licence rules.
What is a Curaçao casino licence?
A Curaçao casino licence is one permit covering slots, table and card games, poker, esports and virtual sports, CasinoCanada says. The Curacao licensed casinos Canada players join need only that one, while the MGA uses four licences, NewCasino notes.
NewCasino calls Curaçao a small south Caribbean island country inside the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Its online licences shut out local residents. Most players first see the licence as the footer badge “Licensed by Curaçao eGaming”. TheOilRig ranks it among the world’s most common casino accreditations.
SlotCasinoCanada says a licence names the regulator of the Curacao licensed casinos Canada players spot, not their quality. A bare “Licensed in Curaçao” line is too vague. One casino promo page calls it “an EU gaming licence”, but Bojoko says its oversight trails EU licences. See how licensed and offshore casinos differ.
Who regulates online gaming in Curaçao today?
The Curaçao Gaming Authority (CGA) regulates online gaming today under the National Ordinance on Games of Chance, or LOK. It supervises the Curacao licensed casinos Canada players see. Its website cga.cw adds that it oversees land-based casinos, licenses all lotteries and charity bingo, and polices AML/CFT compliance.
The CGA lists its goals as honest, responsible and competitive gaming, kept clear of criminal and corruptive elements. Those are aims, not promises, so check each operator yourself.
SlotCasinoCanada says the LOK came into force on December 24, almost two years ago. On that date the old Gaming Control Board (GCB) became the Curaçao Gaming Authority.

What did the LOK reform change for Curaçao casinos?
The LOK reform created two licence types, each valid for one year, CasinoCanada and Bojoko report. B2C covers operators serving players, and B2B covers game providers and payment processors. Curacao licensed casinos Canada players use today hold the B2C kind.
CasinoCanada says operators must now prove financial stability and meet stricter standards, while costs and annual fees have risen. SlotCasinoCanada adds that old JAZ numbers gave way to OGL licence numbers. A licence’s status now reads Active, Suspended, Withdrawn or Revoked.
Bojoko reports that a noticeable share of less reputable casinos lost their GCB licences and left for softer jurisdictions. In its view, that exit improved the licence’s reputation.
What happened to master licences and sublicences?
Master licences and sublicences are gone. SlotCasinoCanada says the old sublicence system ended in October last year, and Bonus.ca says the CGA now issues licences directly. So Curacao licensed casinos Canada players pick get their licence straight from the regulator.
For years, casinos ran on sublicences from four private master licence holders: Gaming Curaçao, Antillephone, Curaçao Interactive Licensing and Curaçao eGaming. Each master licence lasted five years and let its holder grant sublicences, CasinoCanada says. Bojoko blames the holders’ lax enforcement for the licence’s tainted name.
That is why master-licence logos still appear in casino footers, Bonus.ca notes. Among the Curacao licensed casinos Canada players come across, migrated ones carry the CGA logo and a licence number linked to the official register. Our check of the CGA register, dated October 14, found no Antillephone N.V. entry.
Why do sources give different dates for the Curaçao licence?
Sources give different dates because each picks its own starting point. TheOilRig and Bojoko say licensing began in nineteen ninety-six, while CasinoCanada says the board was founded on April 19, twenty-seven years ago. Expect that mismatch in write-ups on Curacao licensed casinos Canada players find.
NewCasino says the regulator has existed for over 20 years, while one casino promo page says almost 20. CasinoCanada, Bonus.ca and Bojoko place the reform in twenty twenty-three, not at the December in-force date SlotCasinoCanada gives.
CasinoCanada’s FAQ still says master licences and sublicences are allowed through the regulator’s portal, against its own text calling them abolished. SlotCasinoCanada warns that a great deal of online material still describes the old system.
Why is the CGA online portal offline?
The CGA online portal went offline after a security breach. On September 17 this year, the CGA said it was investigating unauthorised access to the licensing portal behind Curacao licensed casinos Canada players use. Its cga.cw homepage still reads “The CGA online gaming portal is offline”.
On September 22, a German security researcher claimed in global media to have taken operator data and internal CGA documents from the portal. The CGA confirmed this matches its own probe, calling it a serious breach under Curaçao law that it will report to the authorities.
Entry came through the portal’s customer-facing side, via an account set up in December last year under a false identity. Access ran until September this year, and the full scope of the material taken is still unknown. The CGA has tightened portal security and told operators to make their own changes.
Are existing Curaçao licences still valid after the portal shutdown?
Yes. On October 2, the CGA said the outage leaves existing licences valid and keeps operators’ duties in place. It also postponed submission deadlines for operators behind Curacao licensed casinos Canada players use.
On October 7, the CGA said the portal will not return. Licensing and supervision continue through other arrangements, and an interim solution was being built. Details were targeted for October 9 at the latest.
The current digital seal is also affected, so the CGA will add another way for operators to show a domain is licensed. Until then, treat the seal on Curacao licensed casinos Canada players visit with care.
How large is the Curaçao online licence register?
The CGA online gaming licence register holds 665 distinct licence numbers by our count, as of its October 14 update. Of its rows, 571 are marked B2C and 96 B2B. Any list of Curacao licensed casinos Canada sites publish draws from that pool.
By our count, the status column shows 208 licences as Indefinite, 294 as Assessment in progress, 58 as Expired and 49 as Revoked. Look up each of the Curacao licensed casinos Canada players shortlist and read its label.
The CGA register page warns that its overviews do not guarantee a licence is valid right now. It adds that nobody can claim rights based on them.
What does the CGA enforcement register show?
The CGA enforcement register, last updated September 14, lists 32 licences, by our check of the CGA register. Of those, 31 were revoked and 1 was not extended. Use it to see which Curacao licensed casinos Canada players hear about lost their licence.
The register only covers actions that change a licence’s status. Other CGA steps stay off it. So absence from it does not prove a casino has a clean record.
The revocations listed there date back to November two years ago, our check shows. Also read our list of blacklisted casinos before you sign up anywhere.
What does an operator pay for a Curaçao licence?
An operator pays about $58,000 in total licence costs, CasinoCanada estimates, for one of the Curacao licensed casinos Canada players browse. The application fee is ANG 9,000, or about $5,000. A monthly fee of about ANG 4,000 ($2,240) and an annual fee of ANG 48,000 ($26,800) follow.
CasinoCanada says Curaçao drew platforms with fast, simple licensing, low starting capital and tax rates among the world’s lowest. TheOilRig agrees the process is quick and cheap next to Malta or the UK, which makes Curaçao popular with start-ups.
NewCasino notes that most Curaçao perks favour the operator. It adds that Curaçao long put licence count over client quality. Weigh that when you compare the Curacao licensed casinos Canada review sites list.
What must an operator do to get a Curaçao licence?
An operator must set up a Curaçao company, a local office with staff and at least one server on the island, CasinoCanada says. The firms behind Curacao licensed casinos Canada players join also file passports, proof of address, CVs, criminal record certificates and business plans.
NewCasino says at least one owner must live in Curaçao, and games at Curacao licensed casinos Canada players try must pass fairness audits. It calls its list the industry minimum.
CasinoCanada’s FAQ says the GCB decides within two months of a complete submission, while its main text says eight weeks at most. One casino promo page claims two to three weeks.
Which casinos on our list hold a Curaçao licence?
Vegazone, AzurSlot, Slota, Gamblezen, Spinko, GGBet, Melbet, NV Casino and PlanBet hold Curaçao as their main licence, according to our reviews. These nine form the core of the Curacao licensed casinos Canada players find on our list.
No licence turns up more often on our list than Curaçao. Anjouan, Tobique, Kahnawake and Malta appear too, as our licensed-vs-offshore page explains. No casino we list holds a provincial licence.
Our check of the CGA register covers the operators behind the Curacao licensed casinos Canada players find here. It used the online licence register dated October 14 and the enforcement register dated September 14. The register’s own page warns its listings do not promise current validity and give no rights.
What did our register check find for the GBL Solutions casinos?
Our check of the CGA register found GBL Solutions N.V. with the status Assessment in progress. It runs Vegazone, AzurSlot and Slota, three Curacao licensed casinos Canada players see here. Its entry, OGL/2024/589/0556, was issued October 14 last year with an expiry of April 14 this year.
Our Vegazone review cites PlayCasino, which clicked the Curaçao Gaming Control Board seal and saw an active certificate. PlayCasino also found GBL in the public Curaçao Commercial Register with no complaints.
Our AzurSlot review cites registration number 155090, which matches the register’s company number. Casino Guru shows onlywin.com with a verified Curaçao licence under GBL. The only.win site runs under Goodfly N.V., registration 163359. The register lists Goodfly under OGL/2024/719/0211, status Assessment in progress.
How do Gamblezen and Spinko show up in the register?
Gamblezen and Spinko, two Curacao licensed casinos Canada players find here, link to Fortuna Games N.V. Our check of the CGA register lists Fortuna with the status Indefinite under OGL/2024/112/0974, company number 162413. The entry was issued December 24 last year, with no expiry date.
Our Gamblezen review shows Casino Guru and AskGamblers giving a licence number ending 112/0974 and registration 162413, both matching the register. For Spinko, PlayCasino found the licence active in the regulator’s public records.
JohnnyBet gives Gamblezen a number ending 109/0075 and names Altacore N.V. as owner. The register lists Altacore under OGL/2023/109/0075, company number 151002, status Assessment in progress. A third site names Antillephone N.V., so records on Curacao licensed casinos Canada players use can clash.
What does the register list for Melbet and Roobet?
Our check of the CGA register lists the operators of Melbet and Roobet as Indefinite, with no expiry date. Both are Curacao licensed casinos Canada players use. Pelican Entertainment B.V. holds OGL/2024/561/0554 for Melbet, and Raw Entertainment B.V. holds OGL/2024/687/0427 for Roobet, both issued December 24 last year.
Our Melbet review gives Pelican’s company number as 134359, matching the register. Casino Guru marks the Melbet licence verified. Bojoko counts Pelican Entertainment among the operators behind the Curacao licensed casinos Canada players see on its list.
Our Roobet review gives Raw Entertainment B.V. registration number 157205, the same company number our check of the CGA register shows. Casino Guru adds an Anjouan licence for Roobet.
Where do GGBet, NV Casino and PlanBet stand in the register?
GGBet, NV Casino and PlanBet all sit under operators with the status Assessment in progress in our check of the CGA register. None of these three Curacao licensed casinos Canada players find here shows an Indefinite entry.
Our GGBet review names River Entertainment B.V., about ten years in business, which the register lists under OGL/2024/688/0234, company number 158146. On the regulator’s site, PlayCasino saw the GGBet Curaçao licence listed as active. Casino Guru names Nixxe B.V. as the NV Casino owner, listed under OGL/2024/1363/0705.
One site names Canada as a restricted country for NV Casino. AskGamblers places PlanBet with Edjowa-Gaming N.V. under the Curaçao Gaming Control Board. Edjowa’s register entry, OGL/2024/507/0541, was issued June 9 last year with an expiry of December 9 last year.
Which of our casinos pair Curaçao with a second licence?
BetLabel and 22Bet pair Curaçao with a Kahnawake licence, while DepositWin and OnlyWin pair it with Anjouan. For BetLabel and 22Bet, two Curacao licensed casinos Canada players can join, Kahnawake covers Canada-facing play and Curaçao covers other markets.
Our BetLabel review gives Kahnawake licence 01056, and our 22Bet review gives 00882. Both name TechSolutions Group N.V., which the register lists as TechSolutions Group B.V. under OGL/2024/590/0758, company number 144920, status Assessment in progress. Bonus.ca uses it as a sample footer number.
Casino Guru marks two DepositWin licences verified, Anjouan ALSI-202509006-FI1 and Curaçao, under Modern World Entertainment B.V. The register lists that firm under OGL/2024/1335/0780, status Assessment in progress. Roshtein names Versus Odds B.V. instead, whose entry OGL/2024/1410/0814 shows Expired. For OnlyWin, AskGamblers gives Anjouan licence ALSI-202606013-FI1.
Which listed casinos have a disputed Curaçao licence?
Dudespin, Safecasino, Roman Casino and Sportaza have a disputed Curaçao licence, because sources on these Curacao licensed casinos Canada players see do not agree. At Dudespin, one site cites Curaçao, another cites Costa Rica, and its terms name no company or licence.
For Safecasino, one site names Kahnawake, AskGamblers names Curaçao, and another reviewer failed to match that Curaçao licence to a register entry. Casino Guru cites Curaçao for Roman Casino, yet another site found no licence on its pages.
The register lists Roman Casino’s operator, Terdersoft B.V., as Indefinite under OGL/2024/1126/0521, issued March 26 this year. For Sportaza, Gambling.com names Rabidi N.V., absent from the licence register. Rabidi’s licence OGL/2023/103/0067 shows as revoked from June 11, two years ago, in the enforcement register.
Which casinos on our list hold other licences instead?
24Casino, Spinaconda, WinCrown and Drakaris hold Tobique licences instead. Cashed, Casinova, 5bet, LolaJack and Spinsino hold Anjouan, and Galactic Wins holds a Malta Gaming Authority licence. None of these ten counts among the Curacao licensed casinos Canada players find with us.
Casino Guru shows SkyCrown with a verified Anjouan licence, and AskGamblers lists Tobique licence 0000064. Gambling.com points instead to the Curaçao Gaming Control Board, with Hollycorn N.V. as operator. The register lists Hollycorn under OGL/2023/176/0095, status Indefinite.
For Sportaza, Casino Guru gives Anjouan and Tobique licence 0000067 under Rocketship Ventures S.R.L. An earlier AskGamblers post tied 24Casino to Curaçao and Estonia. Licence sets shift over time, which affects any list of Curacao licensed casinos Canada sites publish.
Why can one company name appear on more than one casino?
One firm can legitimately run more than one brand, so its company name shows on each casino it runs. SlotCasinoCanada says this is no red flag in itself. Each of the Curacao licensed casinos Canada players use must still tie back to the company and licence it names.
Casinomeister says GBL runs about a dozen casinos. AskGamblers puts Fortuna Games at over 20 casinos. Our Safecasino review also names TechSolutions Group N.V., so one firm stands behind three of our brands.
SlotCasinoCanada links one shortlisted casino to Fortuna Games N.V. under OGL/2024/112/0974, and a second to GBL Solutions N.V. under OGL/2024/589/0556. Both numbers match our check of the CGA register, so those Curacao licensed casinos Canada sites rank trace back to real register entries.
Why do old JAZ numbers still show on casino sites?
Old JAZ numbers still show because footers can keep old master-licence seals next to the new CGA logo, Bonus.ca notes. Players at the Curacao licensed casinos Canada sites list can see marks from Curaçao eGaming, Gaming Curaçao, Antillephone or CIL.
SlotCasinoCanada treats an old JAZ reference as part of a casino’s history, not as proof of its licence today. Shown as current evidence, it becomes a red flag. That rule fits all Curacao licensed casinos Canada players weigh up.
Our Roobet review shows a footer citing 8048/JAZ from the Government of Curaçao, and Gambling.com pairs the same number with Sportaza. Bonus.ca cites an old 365/JAZ sublicence for OnlyWin. Roshtein mentions an older Antillephone sublicence for DepositWin.
What do review sites say about our Curaçao casinos?
Review sites give our Curaçao casinos mixed scores. On its Curaçao lists, Bojoko scores DepositWin 4.3, Melbet 4.1 and Safecasino 3.4. CasinoCanada gives Slota 7.5/10 and places it 20th on its list of Curacao licensed casinos Canada players can join.
For Slota, AskGamblers, Casinomeister and two other sites name the Curaçao Gaming Control Board, and Casino Guru marks a Curaçao Gaming Authority licence verified. In Casinomeister’s view, the Curaçao GCB licence is “far from the best in the industry.”
PlayCasino says the GGBet Curaçao licence requires free independent dispute mediation, audits of random game outcomes, anti-money laundering monitoring and blocks on minors. PlayCasino’s Vegazone test withdrawals took two hours and twelve hours once verification cleared. The AzurSlot reviewer took a complaint to the Curaçao regulator.
How do you check a Curaçao licence yourself?
Run SlotCasinoCanada’s six checks before joining any of the Curacao licensed casinos Canada players use. Find the legal operator in the terms or footer and note the current OGL licence number. Then open the CGA record, compare company details, tie the domain to the licensed operation and confirm its status.
CasinoCanada checks each licence against official sources, such as the regulator’s list of operators. BoomBetting is blunter: no licence, no go. Verify the number with the regulator, it says, and walk away from any site that hides its licence or stays vague.
David Baker of SlotCasinoCanada says a licence number in a footer is not decoration. Our licensed-vs-offshore page calls a live register link the single best test. A footer logo is a claim to check, and a pending application is not an active licence.
What does a genuine Curaçao footer seal show?
A genuine seal is a clickable logo that opens a certificate page with a valid status, Bojoko says. On Curacao licensed casinos Canada players visit, a green GCB logo is the good sign. An orange one marks a sublicensed operator awaiting its licence, and an image with no link is not enough.
Bonus.ca names five footer seals: Curaçao eGaming, Gaming Curaçao, Antillephone, CIL and the new CGA logo. Each, with its licence number, is meant to link to the regulator’s validation page. SlotCasinoCanada adds that licensed domains can show a dynamic seal fed by the CGA licence platform.
Our Vegazone review notes PlayCasino clicked the Curaçao Gaming Control Board seal and found an active certificate. Our GGBet review says PlayCasino found GGBet’s licence active on the regulator’s site. On October 7, the CGA said availability of its current digital seal is affected, and another way to show licensed domains is coming.
What do the Curaçao licence statuses mean?
Statuses tell you whether a licence still stands. SlotCasinoCanada says CGA documentation uses four: Active, Withdrawn, Suspended and Revoked. Before you trust any of the Curacao licensed casinos Canada players see, look for Active, since the other three point to trouble.
On October 14, our check of the CGA register showed it uses its own status words: Indefinite, Assessment in progress, Expired and Revoked. So a status for one of the Curacao licensed casinos Canada players check can read differently from the documentation.
The CGA register page also warns that its overviews do not guarantee current validity, and no rights can be claimed from them. The CGA notice of October 7 says the portal shutdown leaves existing licences valid.
Why must the casino domain match the licence?
The domain must match because a licence number only helps if it belongs to the company and website you use. SlotCasinoCanada warns that an unrelated domain can copy real company or licence details. The Curacao licensed casinos Canada players join have to prove that link.
One operator can legitimately run more than one brand, so a shared licence is not a warning sign by itself. Still, finding an authentic OGL number online is not enough if you cannot tie it to the casino domain.
SlotCasinoCanada wants casino, domain, operator, OGL licence and current status to line up. Our Safecasino review shows why Curacao licensed casinos Canada players consider deserve this test. One source failed to match Safecasino’s Curaçao licence to a register entry, while another marks it verified.
Which red flags point to a fake or stale Curaçao licence?
SlotCasinoCanada’s red flags include no identifiable legal operator, no current licence details and an OGL number tied to another company. Across Curacao licensed casinos Canada players find, watch for a domain you cannot tie to the operation. An old JAZ reference passed off as current evidence is another warning.
The list also covers conflicting company names, vague withdrawal conditions, missing KYC information and weak responsible gambling pages. One mismatch is not proof of misconduct, but it is a reason to look closer. No bigger bonus or extra thousand games makes up for licensing details that do not add up.
Our blacklisted-casinos page found operators still showing revoked Curaçao seals months after losing the licence. NewCasino says a seal that does not open a valid licence page on the regulator’s site means the casino is lying. BoomBetting adds ridiculous bonuses, hidden rules and endless verification excuses at cashout.
How are player complaints handled under a Curaçao licence?
Complaints are handled by the operator, not an independent body, says Bonus.ca. CasinoCanada lists the missing formal complaints system as a con of Curacao licensed casinos Canada players can access. It says players are sent to the master licence holders instead.
NewCasino says there is no independent mediator. You gather every message and piece of evidence, then take the case to the Curaçao Licensing Board. TheOilRig says the commission does step in, but slowly and in a less player-friendly way. Canadians do not always get the outcome they hope for.
Exceptions exist among Curacao licensed casinos Canada players sign up with. Our GGBet review notes that GGBet’s Curaçao licence requires free, independent mediation of disputes. Squawka, quoted in another of our reviews, finds complaint options under a Curaçao licence more limited than under a provincial or Malta licence.
What protection does a Curaçao licence give players?
A Curaçao licence gives basic protection, TheOilRig says: fair gaming and anti-fraud rules, RNGs with third-party audits, and SSL encryption. The catch for Curacao licensed casinos Canada players use is that operators face lighter compliance checks, which can leave loopholes.
Bojoko lists limited player protection and less oversight than EU licences as cons, though its FAQ says players still have security. Bonus.ca agrees the protection falls short of what Kahnawake or AGCO/iGO offer.
A Curaçao licence still beats having none. NewCasino says the Curacao licensed casinos Canada players play at offer more security than unlicensed sites. BoomBetting notes that an unlicensed casino leaves you no authority to turn to.
Do Curaçao casinos still run ID checks?
Yes. SlotCasinoCanada stresses that a Curaçao licence does not mean no KYC, and “offshore” and “no KYC” are not the same thing. Holding the licence does not remove identity or anti-money laundering checks at the Curacao licensed casinos Canada players register with.
According to SlotCasinoCanada, KYC can involve government ID, proof of address, payment verification and source-of-funds checks. Paying in crypto does not make an account anonymous. A licensed casino can accept Bitcoin and still ask for ID before a withdrawal.
Our page on no verification casinos sets out the contrast. Curaçao operators historically allowed the loosest verification, while Malta, the Isle of Man and Ontario require ID checks early.
How long does verification take at Curaçao casinos?
Expect 2 to 24 hours, the standard estimate at one casino SlotCasinoCanada quotes, unless more checks are needed. Its AML terms hold withdrawals until the player is verified. That is a fair yardstick for the Curacao licensed casinos Canada players can join.
CasinoCanada counts fast verification as a pro, and one casino on its list advertises KYC of up to 72 hours. A player review there describes trouble getting ID verified at one casino.
SlotCasinoCanada says verification matters most before money leaves the account. So send your documents early to any of the Curacao licensed casinos Canada players open accounts with, well before a first cashout.
Are Curaçao casinos safe for Canadians?
Safety comes down to the operator, says SlotCasinoCanada. Two operators under the same licence can have very different withdrawal rules, support and compliance records. So each of the Curacao licensed casinos Canada players pick has to be judged on its own.
Bonus.ca says Curaçao casinos are safe when you stick to licensed, reputable sites it has verified. TheOilRig gives a shorter reply to whether Canadians can trust them: it depends.
CasinoCanada looks for SSL, PCI-DSS payments, two-factor authentication, routine security reviews and firewalls. Look for these on any of the Curacao licensed casinos Canada players shortlist, on top of a valid licence.
How do review sites score Curaçao casinos?
SlotCasinoCanada gives licence and operator transparency 25%, payments and withdrawals 20%, and games and bonus terms 15% each. KYC and security get 10%, support 10% and mobile 5%. No rating for Curacao licensed casinos Canada players compare comes from an OGL number alone.
SlotCasinoCanada works in a fixed order: operator, licence, domain, status, KYC, payments, then withdrawals. CasinoCanada reviews licensing, security, registration, support, bonuses, games, responsible gambling and design. It also reads Trustpilot and forum complaints.
TheOilRig keeps it to six checks: licence logo, player reviews, SSL, payment options, bonus terms and support. Any list of Curacao licensed casinos Canada sites publish is only as good as the checks behind it.
Is it legal for Canadians to play at Curaçao casinos?
Yes, for players outside Ontario. Bonus.ca says Canadians in the rest of the country can legally play at the Curacao licensed casinos Canada residents find online. Our licensed vs offshore page adds Canadians can legally reach offshore sites.
The National Post notes offshore sites, including Curacao licensed casinos Canada players use, are shut out of the regulated markets in Ontario and Alberta. Elsewhere, it and Casino.org call a verifiable Kahnawake, Malta, Tobique or Curaçao licence a common legal choice.
TheOilRig notes that no Canadian body oversees Curaçao casinos, leaving players with Curaçao’s jurisdiction alone. SlotCasinoCanada says these sites suit players who grasp offshore rules, vet the operator, check how withdrawals work and accept KYC. They fit less well for players wanting Ontario oversight or choosing just for crypto or a big bonus.
Can Ontario players use Curaçao-licensed sites?
No. Bonus.ca says there are no Curaçao-licensed casinos in Ontario, where only sites licensed by the AGCO and iGaming Ontario are legal under local rules. So the Curacao licensed casinos Canada players join elsewhere are not a local option there.
Since April four years ago, the AGCO has regulated Ontario online casinos under iGaming Ontario. Bonus.ca says those sites run smaller bonuses and game ranges, but players get clearer rules and strict oversight. Our page on Ontario gambling laws goes deeper.
BoomBetting reminds Canadians that its .com site is not government-run and is not aimed at Ontario users. SEQ Legal adds that an overseas licence is no proof that the Curacao licensed casinos Canada players spot belong to a provincial regulated market.
Does a Curaçao licence count as Canadian authorisation?
No. SlotCasinoCanada says a Curaçao licence is not, on its own, Canadian provincial authorisation. No federal commercial licence covers every site reachable in Canada, so provincial frameworks matter for the Curacao licensed casinos Canada players choose.
SlotCasinoCanada warns that CAD support or a Canadian sign-up shows a site is available, not where its operator is regulated. Offshore sites also follow their licensing body’s AML rules instead of FINTRAC’s. For a provincial example, see our page on online casinos in Alberta.
Before joining one of the Curacao licensed casinos Canada players can reach, SlotCasinoCanada says to check who runs it and where that company is licensed. It also says to confirm your province is accepted, which terms cover you, how disputes are settled and when ID checks can start.
How does Curaçao compare with Kahnawake?
Kahnawake is stricter, but there are more Curacao licensed casinos Canada players can pick from. Bonus.ca says Curaçao is international, with bigger bonuses, CAD and crypto, but lighter protection. Kahnawake, by contrast, is based in Quebec and licenses a smaller pool of sites.
Bojoko calls Kahnawake casinos highly regulated, with strict security, though the licence is less widely recognised than Curaçao or MGA ones. Not every game studio works there. TheOilRig rates the Curaçao licence as less strict than Kahnawake or Ontario licences.
Our BetLabel and 22Bet reviews cite RG.org: both hold a Kahnawake licence for their Canadian players and keep Curaçao for other markets. SlotCasinoCanada says Kahnawake, Malta and Anjouan licences are not interchangeable, and for Kahnawake it checks the permit holder.
How does Curaçao compare with the Malta Gaming Authority?
The MGA is far stricter. NewCasino calls the gap between Curaçao and MGA or UKGC licensing “night and day”. CasinoCanada, which lists Curacao licensed casinos Canada players can join, also finds Curaçao rules less strict than UKGC or MGA rules.
Bojoko puts MGA casinos among the most respected names, citing tight controls on security, fair play and responsible gaming. Bonus.ca calls the MGA widely trusted in Europe, but says it is not always tailored for Canadians.
Our licensed vs offshore page says Casino.org rated a Curaçao licence more trusted than Comoros (Anjouan) and Costa Rica licences. That puts Curaçao between Anjouan and Malta. For Malta, SlotCasinoCanada checks the MGA licence and the approved URL.
How do Anjouan and Tobique licences compare with Curaçao?
Anjouan sits in a lighter tier, and Tobique is a new local option next to the Curacao licensed casinos Canada players know. Our licensed vs offshore page places Anjouan below Malta, the UK and Kahnawake. BoomBetting calls Tobique a rare First Nations licence offering legal clarity.
BoomBetting describes Anjouan as “the new kid on the block” and says crypto-friendly casinos made it a favourite in twenty twenty-four. For Anjouan, SlotCasinoCanada checks the operator and the licence details.
Bojoko says the Tobique Gaming Commission runs from a First Nation territory in New Brunswick and works the way Kahnawake does. It began licensing online casinos in late twenty twenty-five, with a slightly cheaper licence that stays local for Canadians.
Which countries do Curaçao-licensed casinos exclude?
Sources disagree, but the UK, the US and Curaçao itself come up most. NewCasino says the Curacao licensed casinos Canada players join accept Canadians but turn away British and American players over past fraud. It adds that online licences issued in Curaçao do not cover locals.
One casino promo page gives a different list. It says a Curaçao-licensed casino is legally barred from operating only in the United States, France, the Netherlands and Curaçao.
CasinoCanada’s FAQ counts over a hundred countries that recognise the Curaçao licence, Canada and New Zealand among them, plus most of Europe. The exceptions are places that ban gambling or require a local licence. TheOilRig says the licence lets operators serve players worldwide outside restricted regions such as Ontario.
Which payment methods do Curaçao casinos offer Canadians?
It varies by site, since there is no standard Curaçao cashier. SlotCasinoCanada says each operator picks its own methods, currencies, limits and processing. Before depositing at Curacao licensed casinos Canada players try, look at transaction limits, currency, fees, cash-out options, the lowest payout allowed and ID checks.
Bojoko lists Mastercard, Visa, Interac, Skrill, Jeton, Mifinity and Astropay at Melbet, plus crypto payments from C$1 with no fees. Our page on Interac casinos covers that method. TheOilRig says it is common for Curacao licensed casinos Canada players visit to accept deposits from $10.
Prepaid methods are often deposit-only, SlotCasinoCanada notes. Bojoko says Flexepin vouchers fund an account without sharing bank details, but they cannot be used to withdraw. Our PayPal casino page adds that PayPal is absent from most offshore cashiers.
How fast do Curaçao casinos pay out?
It depends on the method. Bonus.ca says crypto pays out instantly or within 2 hours, e-wallets within hours and Interac e-Transfer within 24 hours. Cards take 1 to 3 business days, and bank transfers 2 to 5, at Curacao licensed casinos Canada players choose.
SlotCasinoCanada does not claim all Curacao licensed casinos Canada players use pay within 24 hours. A C$50 deposit can land in moments, yet a C$500 cash-out sits waiting for approval, KYC and a second payment firm. Our page on fast payout casinos lists quicker options.
On CasinoCanada’s Curaçao list, one casino offers 10-minute withdrawals, and another cashes out in 2 hours with a C$10 minimum Interac deposit. Our Vegazone review cites PlayCasino test payouts of two and twelve hours once verification cleared. TheOilRig warns that certain sites are notorious for slow withdrawals.
Is a Curaçao licence a crypto licence?
No. SlotCasinoCanada says a Curaçao gaming licence covers the gambling business, not cryptocurrency. At Curacao licensed casinos Canada players sign up with, Bitcoin, Ethereum or USDT are just ways to pay, picked by each casino.
SlotCasinoCanada treats three questions separately when it reviews Curacao licensed casinos Canada players consider. Is the casino licensed? Does it accept crypto? Does it require KYC? It then checks coins, networks, minimums, fees, conversion rules and KYC for each site.
NewCasino claims only Curaçao-licensed sites can offer Bitcoin deposits and withdrawals. Our Bitcoin Cash casino page notes the Curaçao Gaming Control Board is called the most common crypto casino licence. Yet a Canada table there shows 23 of 36 crypto casinos holding Anjouan licences and 10 holding Curaçao ones.

Bojoko shows Melbet taking Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Tether, Solana, Cardano, Tron and Monero. On CasinoCanada’s list, Slota asks for a C$15 minimum deposit and pays out instantly through 13 cryptos. Our page on Bitcoin casinos compares more sites.

Bojoko says a deposit match can double a deposit up to hundreds of dollars, but no-deposit offers often cap your winnings. Bonus.ca finds Curaçao sites running special deals for Bitcoin, Ethereum and other coins, so compare crypto casino bonuses. BoomBetting warns that every 500% deposit bonus carries a catch.
What wagering terms do Curaçao casinos set?

Slot play usually counts 100% toward wagering, while table games and jackpots count far less or nothing, says Bonus.ca. Bonuses expire within 7 to 30 days, and winnings from free spins or no-deposit offers often carry a max cashout of $100 or less.
Bonus.ca warns that at certain Curacao licensed casinos Canada players join, Skrill or Neteller deposits get no bonus. CasinoCanada expects 25x to 40x on average, with 15 to 30 days to clear it. NewCasino finds Curaçao bonus terms normally tougher than those at MGA sites.
Which Curaçao bonus terms are too tight?
Rollovers of 70x and validity windows under 7 days are too restrictive, says CasinoCanada. Certain entries on Curacao licensed casinos Canada lists go well past that line. On Bonus.ca’s list, one casino sets 200x wagering on its first two bonuses before dropping to 30x.
Bojoko’s list shows stricter cases. One casino asks 60x on deposit plus bonus, and another wants 100x on the deposit for a progressive 200% bonus. A third gives 50 no-deposit spins with 45x wagering, a 7-day window and a C$50 cap.
Looser terms exist too. Bojoko lists one casino with a wager-free 100% first deposit bonus up to C$200, though it is sticky with a 5x max cashout. CasinoCanada’s Curaçao list has one casino paying 7% weekly cashback with no wagering and another with zero wagering on cashbacks.

On Bojoko, Melbet carries more than 15,000 games and nearly 1,000 live tables, Safecasino 15,000 and DepositWin 11,000. CasinoCanada credits Slota with 12,000+ games from 130 studios. Its list also shows one casino with 23,000+ RNG-tested games and another with 16,000+ from 132 suppliers.

What are the cons of Curaçao-licensed casinos?
Weaker player protection is the main con across Curacao licensed casinos Canada review sites rate. Bonus.ca puts protection below Kahnawake or AGCO/iGO and notes that the operator handles disputes. CasinoCanada adds that no formal complaints system exists and rules are looser than at the UKGC or MGA.
Bojoko calls these sites less reputable than MGA casinos, with less oversight than EU licences, limited protection and often no responsible gaming tools. NewCasino warns that no independent mediator exists, certain players face restrictions and the sector holds an excess of bad apples.
TheOilRig lists withdrawal delays, no local oversight and a mixed reputation as risks. Our homepage rates a Curaçao-only licence the weakest of the group for player protection. A Curaçao-only operator therefore has to earn trust in every other category before we rank it.
Are winnings from Curaçao casinos taxed in Canada?
No, winnings from Curacao licensed casinos Canada players use are tax-free. Our licensed-vs-offshore page cites NCFA Canada, which says paragraph 40(2)(f) of the Income Tax Act keeps gambling wins untaxed whatever the licence. Any interest those winnings earn is taxable on a T5 form, though.
Curaçao’s low taxes benefit operators rather than players. CasinoCanada says Curaçao offers operators among the lowest tax rates in the world, and NewCasino calls the income tax for casino owners incredibly low.
No licence guarantees a payout at any of the Curacao licensed casinos Canada players join. NCFA Canada and a second source on our licensed-vs-offshore page agree that a licence lowers risk without removing it.
Which responsible gambling tools do Curaçao casinos offer?
Self-exclusion, deposit limits and time-outs are the core tools at Curacao licensed casinos Canada players use, and CasinoCanada checks for all three. It says the regulator enforces self-exclusion and deposit limits and requires caps on playing time and spending. It advises confirming that each tool exists.
CasinoCanada also warns that enforcement can be less rigorous than at the UKGC or MGA. On SlotCasinoCanada, one casino’s terms offer cooling-off periods of 24 hours, 3 days, 7 days, 14 days or 1 month, plus longer self-exclusion.
Our Vegazone review notes that an offshore self-exclusion usually covers one brand only, so read up on self-exclusion in Canada. PlayCasino, quoted there, says Vegazone was the first Curaçao casino where it saw a reality check tool. Bonus.ca says Ontario’s AGCO/iGO licence brings strong responsible gaming tools.
