Street craps and cee-lo Canada players know from parties and sidewalks are two dice games with no house: street craps uses two dice and the shooter’s point, while cee-lo uses three dice and the famous 4-5-6. Last week at G2E in Las Vegas, 50 Cent and TCSJOHNHUXLEY unveiled 50 Cent Headcrack, a dealer-run casino version of cee-lo. For licensed dice games online, see our picks of trusted Canadian casinos.
Below we explain the rules of both games, work out the odds from all 216 three-dice outcomes and all 36 two-dice outcomes, show where the edge sits when there is no casino, and cover the new casino version.
| Point | Street craps | Cee-lo |
|---|---|---|
| Dice | Two | Three |
| Instant win | 7 or 11 on the come-out | 4-5-6, any triple, pair plus 6 |
| Instant loss | 2, 3 or 12 on the come-out | 1-2-3, pair plus 1 |
| Point | 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 | Pair plus 2, 3, 4 or 5 |
| Who banks | Shooter and faders | The banker, or no one |
| Edge by our sums | 1.41% to the fader | 2.47% to the banker |
What are street craps and cee-lo?
Informal dice games played between players, with no casino taking a cut. Street craps is the two-dice game behind casino craps; cee-lo is a three-dice game named after the Chinese for four-five-six, Wikipedia says. Both are the classic street craps and cee-lo Canada players meet outside casinos.
Street craps is usually rolled against a wall or on the ground, PokerNews notes.
Cee-lo can be played with a banker or as winner-take-all, Wikipedia explains.
Both games use simple equipment and fast rounds, which made them street classics.
Neither game has one official rulebook, so agree on rules before any dice roll.
How does a round of street craps unfold?
The shooter rolls two dice. On the come-out roll, 7 or 11 wins, 2, 3 or 12 loses, and any other total becomes the point; the shooter then wins by rolling the point again before a 7, PokerNews explains. That loop is the core of street craps and cee-lo Canada rules.

- Players agree the stake and who shoots first.
- Others “fade” the shooter by covering the bet.
- The shooter makes the come-out roll.
- If a point is set, the shooter keeps rolling until the point or a 7.
Side bets between other players are common, PokerNews adds.
Rules on who shoots next vary by group in street craps and cee-lo Canada games.
What does “fading” mean?
Covering the shooter’s bet. A player cries “I fade you!” to match the shooter’s money, and in street craps the shooter often banks the game by covering all bets for or against the roll, PokerNews explains. Fading is the language of street craps and cee-lo Canada players use.
In cee-lo, players fade the banker by covering parts of the bank, Wikipedia says.
Wikipedia’s example: a bank of 100 faded 20, 20 and 60 by three players.
Once the whole bank is covered, no more bets are taken that round.
Uncovered amounts simply stay out of play.
What are the come-out odds in street craps?
Of the 36 two-dice outcomes, 8 give 7 or 11 (22.22%), 4 give 2, 3 or 12 (11.11%) and 24 set a point (66.67%), by our sums. The shooter’s overall chance of winning is 244 in 495, or 49.29%. Those numbers drive street craps and cee-lo Canada betting.
| Come-out result | Ways out of 36 | Chance |
|---|---|---|
| Natural (7 or 11) | 8 | 22.22% |
| Craps (2, 3 or 12) | 4 | 11.11% |
| Point set | 24 | 66.67% |
Seven is the most common total, with 6 ways out of 36, which is why it ends most street craps and cee-lo Canada points.
Who has the edge in street craps?
The fader betting against the shooter at even money, by 1.41%, by our sums: the shooter wins 49.29% of decisions and loses 50.71%. Casinos remove that edge for don’t-pass bettors by barring 12; streets usually do not. Edge matters in street craps and cee-lo Canada games.
Over 100 even-money decisions of 10, the fader’s average gain is about 14.
Taking turns as shooter evens things out over a long night.
Our how to play craps page explains how casinos structure the same bets.
The shooter’s edge disadvantage is small, but it never goes away.
What are fair odds on point bets?
After a point is set, the chance of making it is 3 in 9 for 4 or 10, 4 in 10 for 5 or 9, and 5 in 11 for 6 or 8, by our sums. Fair side-bet odds are 2:1, 3:2 and 6:5. Knowing them protects you in street craps and cee-lo Canada games.
| Point | Chance to make it | Fair odds against |
|---|---|---|
| 4 or 10 | 33.33% | 2:1 |
| 5 or 9 | 40.00% | 3:2 |
| 6 or 8 | 45.45% | 6:5 |
Anyone offering less than these odds is taking an edge from you.
How does cee-lo work?
Each player rolls three dice until a recognised combination appears: an instant win, an instant loss or a point. In the banking game the banker rolls first, then each player tries to beat the banker’s point, Wikipedia explains. Three dice set cee-lo apart in street craps and cee-lo Canada play.
- The banker puts up a stake and players fade it.
- The banker rolls until a combination appears.
- An instant win or loss settles all bets at once.
- If the banker sets a point, each player rolls to beat it.
Rules on passing the bank vary, Wikipedia notes.
Which cee-lo rolls win instantly?
4-5-6, any triple and any pair with a 6, Wikipedia lists. For the banker these win every bet at once. 4-5-6 is the roll nothing beats, the “headcrack” in street slang. These rolls headline street craps and cee-lo Canada rules.
| Instant win | Ways out of 216 | Chance per roll |
|---|---|---|
| 4-5-6 | 6 | 2.78% |
| Any triple | 6 | 2.78% |
| Pair plus 6 | 15 | 6.94% |
Triples rank from 6-6-6 at the top down to 1-1-1 in street craps and cee-lo Canada rules.
Which cee-lo rolls lose instantly?
1-2-3 and any pair with a 1, Wikipedia says. A banker who rolls these loses every bet, and players break the bank. Chinese players call 1-2-3 “dancing dragon”. Knowing the losers is basic to street craps and cee-lo Canada play.
| Instant loss | Ways out of 216 | Chance per roll |
|---|---|---|
| 1-2-3 | 6 | 2.78% |
| Pair plus 1 | 15 | 6.94% |
Pair plus 1 is also called “ace negative” or “craps out”, Wikipedia notes.
How are cee-lo points set?
A pair plus a single 2, 3, 4 or 5 sets a point equal to the single die, so 2-2-4 sets a point of 4, Wikipedia explains. Each point comes up 15 ways in 216. Points are the middle ground of street craps and cee-lo Canada rolls.
| Point | Ways out of 216 | Chance per roll |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | 15 | 6.94% |
| 3 | 15 | 6.94% |
| 4 | 15 | 6.94% |
| 5 | 15 | 6.94% |
In the banking game, 1 and 6 cannot be points, since those pairs are instant results.
How often do you have to re-roll?
Half the time. 108 of 216 outcomes are meaningless combinations that require another roll, Wikipedia’s table shows. With a 50% chance of a result each roll, the average is two rolls per turn, by our sums. Re-rolls set the rhythm of street craps and cee-lo Canada games.
| Rolls taken | Chance a result has appeared |
|---|---|
| 1 | 50% |
| 2 | 75% |
| 3 | 87.5% |
| 4 | 93.75% |
A banker can roll more than once before the round is decided.
What are the banker’s odds on the first result?
Counting only rolls that settle something, the banker wins instantly 25% of the time, loses instantly 19.44% and sets a point 55.56%, by our sums from Wikipedia’s table. Instant results favour the bank. That split shapes street craps and cee-lo Canada banking.
| Banker outcome | Ways out of 108 | Chance |
|---|---|---|
| Instant win | 27 | 25.00% |
| Instant loss | 21 | 19.44% |
| Point of 2 to 5 | 60 | 55.56% |
Each individual point is 13.89% of settled rolls.
How hard is each banker point to beat?
A point of 2 is easy to beat: the player wins 66.7% of settled rolls against it. A point of 5 is tough: the player wins only 25%. Ties, rolling the same point, come up 13.9% of the time, by our sums. Points decide most street craps and cee-lo Canada rounds.
| Banker point | Player wins | Player loses | Tie |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | 66.7% | 19.4% | 13.9% |
| 3 | 52.8% | 33.3% | 13.9% |
| 4 | 38.9% | 47.2% | 13.9% |
| 5 | 25.0% | 61.1% | 13.9% |
Our sums treat ties as pushes; groups that re-roll ties get slightly different numbers.
Who has the edge in banking cee-lo?
The banker, by about 2.47% of each player’s bet, by our sums, with ties as pushes. The banker’s extra instant wins outweigh the instant losses. That is why players take turns holding the bank in street craps and cee-lo Canada games.
Over 100 bets of 10, the banker’s average gain is about 25.
Rotating the bank shares that edge around the group.
Wikipedia notes that rules for passing the bank are part of casual play.
A permanent banker slowly collects from everyone else.
How does non-banking cee-lo work?
Everyone puts the same amount in the pot and rolls; the best combination wins it all. Wikipedia ranks 4-5-6 first, then triples, then points, and in this version 6 and 1 are valid points. Winner-take-all is the party form of street craps and cee-lo Canada play.
Ties are usually settled by a roll-off.
Certain groups treat 1-1-1 as an “ace out” loss, Wikipedia notes.
Order of rolling can be set by a single-die roll-off.
With more players, the winning hand tends to be stronger.
Which cee-lo variants exist?
Wikipedia lists a “doubling down” rule where trips or 4-5-6 make everyone pay double, a West Coast version that ranks pairs and treats trips as losses, a pair-based point rule and a high-low points rule. Variants change the odds of street craps and cee-lo Canada games.
| Variant | Change |
|---|---|
| Doubling down | Trips or 4-5-6 collect double |
| West Coast | Pairs ranked; trips lose; 1-2-3 meaningless |
| Pair-based points | 5-5-2 is a point of five (“fevers”) |
| High and low points | Triples are high points, pairs low points |
Always agree on the variant before the first roll of any street craps and cee-lo Canada game.
What other names does cee-lo have?
“Four-five-six”, “Roll-off” or simply “Dice” in North America, “Sān Liù Bàozi” or “Three-Six Leopards” in China, and “Chinchiro” or “Chinchirorin” in Japan, Wikipedia lists. The range of names shows how far street craps and cee-lo Canada players’ game has travelled.
Triples are called “trips” or, in Chinese, “leopards”.
The Chinese name for the game literally means four-five-six.
Old game books such as The New Complete Hoyle describe it.
Anime fans know chinchirorin from Japanese gambling stories.
What does “headcrack” mean?
Street slang for the 4-5-6, the roll nothing beats. Yahoo reports that when it lands, the table erupts with one word: “Headcrack!” Wikipedia’s two-player rules list head crack beside trips and a pair with 6 as automatic wins. The word is pure street craps and cee-lo Canada vocabulary.
50 Cent says the name needs no explanation in New York, Yahoo notes.
The roll comes up 6 times in 216, or 2.78% of throws, by our sums.
Across settled rolls only, it is 5.56%, since half of all rolls are re-rolls.
The new casino game borrows the word as its brand.
What is 50 Cent Headcrack?
A licensed casino table game based on cee-lo, built by UK manufacturer TCSJOHNHUXLEY with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and unveiled at G2E Las Vegas at the Venetian Expo from September 29 to October 1, PR Newswire and Casino.org report. It is the first casino version of street craps and cee-lo Canada players will recognise.
The press release calls it a game that lived outside regulated gaming “for more than a century”, banked by whoever put up the money.
At G2E it gained a dealer, a pay table and a place on the casino floor.
It debuted at booth 4439, PR Newswire says.
Casino.org notes no commercial casino had publicly committed floor space yet.
How does 50 Cent Headcrack play?
It pits the Bank against the Shooter on every hand, with a Tie bet and side bets, PR Newswire says. That Bank, Shooter and Tie structure mirrors the Banker, Player and Tie format of baccarat. It turns street craps and cee-lo Canada rules into a dealer game.
Three dice, three main bets and a result readable from across the pit make it learnable in one round, the release says.
It is offered with traditional dice and automated dice technology, Yahoo reports.
Operators can tune the game to their floors with two formats.
Our Bac Bo page covers another dice game built on the baccarat model.
Which side bets does Headcrack offer?
PR Newswire lists 5-5-6, HEADCRACK itself, Any Trips, 1-2-3 Natural Bust and a bundled Cover All wager, among others. Pay tables are published for each. Side bets add casino-style options to street craps and cee-lo Canada rolls.
| Side bet | Ways out of 216 on one roll, by our sums | Chance |
|---|---|---|
| 4-5-6 (Headcrack) | 6 | 2.78% |
| Any trips | 6 | 2.78% |
| 1-2-3 | 6 | 2.78% |
| 5-5-6 exactly | 3 | 1.39% |
A fair single-roll payout on a 2.78% bet would be 35 to 1; casino pay tables pay less to build in an edge.
What are Single Roll and Ride the Roll editions?
Two formats. The Single Roll Edition settles side bets after every roll for maximum action; the Ride the Roll Edition keeps side bets active across rolls until a point, natural win or natural bust is set, PR Newswire explains. Formats change the pace of street craps and cee-lo Canada play in a casino.
Single-roll settlement means more decisions per hour.
Ride the Roll encourages longer sessions, the release says.
Re-rolls make the second format slower to resolve.
Operators pick the format to fit their floors.
Who is the game aimed at?
Younger guests and players not already at the tables, and players from three-dice traditions such as sì wǔ liù, sic bo and chinchirorin, PR Newswire says. Casino.org describes it as a fast-paced offering aimed at younger players. It brings street craps and cee-lo Canada culture to the pit.
The baccarat-like structure targets Asian casino markets too.
Tristan Sjöberg, TCSJOHNHUXLEY’s executive chairman, links 50’s entertainment reach with the company’s live-casino experience, Yahoo reports.
Our sic bo page explains the casino’s long-standing three-dice game.
Our rappers who gamble page covers 50 Cent and other music stars’ betting.
Will Headcrack reach Canadian casinos?
Not yet confirmed. Casino.org reports no commercial casino has publicly committed to the game, and Canadian casinos need provincial approval for new table games. Watch provincial announcements before expecting street craps and cee-lo Canada style at a local table.
New table games go through testing and regulatory review before launch.
Live casino studios may add a version online if it proves popular.
Until then, cee-lo stays a private game among friends.
Casino craps and sic bo remain the licensed dice options.
Can you bet money on dice games outside a casino in Canada?
Gambling for money is only legal in Canada when a province runs or licenses it, and street games run by whoever banks them fall outside that. PokerNews says street craps is illegal in all US states. Play street craps and cee-lo Canada style for fun, not money, unless you are sure of the rules.
Private social games among friends where no one takes a cut are treated differently from organised games.
Running a game for profit or charging a fee to play raises serious legal risk.
Public places add by-law and policing issues.
Licensed casinos and online sites offer legal dice games instead.
How do casino craps and street craps differ?
Casino craps uses a table, a stickman, a boxman and dealers, and the casino pays every bet; street craps relies on player agreements, with players betting against each other, PokerNews says. The house edge moves from the casino to whoever fades. That is the key split in street craps and cee-lo Canada comparisons.
| Feature | Casino craps | Street craps |
|---|---|---|
| Banker | Casino | Shooter or faders |
| Staff | Stickman, boxman, dealers | None |
| Bets | Fixed layout and pay table | Agreed between players |
| Don’t pass | 12 barred to remove edge | Fader keeps a 1.41% edge |
Our free craps page lets you practise the casino layout without money.
How does cee-lo compare with sic bo?
Both use three dice, but sic bo is a casino game where players bet on one roll against the house, while cee-lo is a rolling contest between banker and players. They are cousins in the street craps and cee-lo Canada family.
| Feature | Cee-lo | Sic bo |
|---|---|---|
| Who rolls | Players and banker | Dealer or shaker |
| Bet type | Beat the banker | Predict the roll |
| Re-rolls | Yes, half the time | No |
Our Mega Sic Bac page covers a live dice-and-baccarat hybrid.
What does “spare and a pair” mean?
A pair plus any other value, where the odd die sets the point, also called “pair and a point”, Wikipedia says. A 2-2-5 and a 1-1-5 would both give a point of 5 in the basic rules. It is a core phrase in street craps and cee-lo Canada play.
In the pair-based variant, the pair sets the point instead.
Under that rule, 5-5-2 is “fevers” and beats 3-3-6, “treys”.
Agree which die sets the point before betting.
Mixed rules cause most arguments at a dice game.
How common is each two-dice total?
Seven leads with 6 of 36 ways, then 6 and 8 with 5 each, down to 2 and 12 with one each, by our count. These frequencies explain every street bet. They are the base maths of street craps and cee-lo Canada games.
| Total | Ways out of 36 | Chance | Street name |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | 1 | 2.78% | Snake eyes |
| 3 | 2 | 5.56% | Ace-deuce |
| 4 | 3 | 8.33% | Little Joe (2-2) |
| 5 | 4 | 11.11% | Fever |
| 6 | 5 | 13.89% | – |
| 7 | 6 | 16.67% | Natural on the come-out |
| 8 | 5 | 13.89% | – |
| 9 | 4 | 11.11% | Nina |
| 10 | 3 | 8.33% | Big Dick |
| 11 | 2 | 5.56% | Yo |
| 12 | 1 | 2.78% | Boxcars |
Street names vary by city and group.
How common is each three-dice pattern?
Of 216 outcomes, 6 are triples, 90 are a pair plus another value and 120 have three different values; of those 120, only 4-5-6 and 1-2-3 count in cee-lo, by our count. That structure explains the 50% re-roll rate in street craps and cee-lo Canada play.
| Pattern | Ways out of 216 | Use in cee-lo |
|---|---|---|
| Triple | 6 | Instant win |
| Pair plus a different value | 90 | Point, or instant result with 1 or 6 |
| 4-5-6 or 1-2-3 | 12 | Instant win or loss |
| Other all-different | 108 | Re-roll |
Each specific pair-plus-kicker combination appears 3 ways per pair value, 15 ways per kicker across pairs.
What roll count does a street craps decision take?
About 3.38 rolls on average: one come-out, plus an average of 3.27 to 4 rolls to settle a point, weighted by how often each point appears, by our sums. Faster than it feels. That pace sets the hourly action of street craps and cee-lo Canada games.
| Point | Average rolls to settle |
|---|---|
| 4 or 10 | 4.00 |
| 5 or 9 | 3.60 |
| 6 or 8 | 3.27 |
A third of decisions end on the come-out roll itself.
How rare is a hot shooter?
With a 49.29% chance per decision, a shooter wins three in a row 11.98% of the time and five in a row 2.91%, by our sums. Streaks feel special but follow plain probability. Hot hands are part of street craps and cee-lo Canada folklore.
| Wins in a row | Chance |
|---|---|
| 2 | 24.30% |
| 3 | 11.98% |
| 5 | 2.91% |
| 10 | 0.08% |
Past wins do not change the next roll’s odds.
Can a shooter control the dice?
There is no reliable evidence that casual throws can be steered, and street rules usually make the dice hit a wall to randomise them. Bouncing off a wall or the ground keeps results fair. Treat control claims with doubt in street craps and cee-lo Canada games.
Casinos require dice to hit the back wall of the table for the same reason.
Fixed or loaded dice are the real cheating risk in private games.
Use clear, sharp-edged dice from a sealed pack.
Swap dice if anyone doubts them.
What happens if a die lands off the playing area?
Most groups agree to re-roll any throw where a die leaves the area or lands tilted against something. Settle this rule before money moves. Clear house rules prevent disputes in street craps and cee-lo Canada games.
In casinos, dice that leave the table are usually inspected or replaced.
Decide whether a die tilted on another counts.
Pick one person to call disputed rolls.
Write the rules down for a regular game night.
How do you pass the bank in cee-lo?
By house rule. Wikipedia notes that casual rules dictate when the duty of being the bank passes to a new player; common choices are when the bank is broken or after a set number of rounds. Rotation spreads the banker’s edge in street craps and cee-lo Canada games.
A banker may add money or let the bank stand between rounds, Wikipedia explains.
Breaking the bank happens when the banker rolls an instant loss.
Fixed rotation is the fairest option for friends.
Cap the bank size to keep stakes friendly.
How do you set up a cee-lo game at home?
You need three dice, a flat rolling area or bowl, and play chips instead of cash. Agree the variant, bank rules and re-roll rules first. A simple set-up keeps street craps and cee-lo Canada fun social.
- Choose banking or winner-take-all rules.
- Give everyone the same chip stack.
- Agree how the bank passes.
- Agree re-roll rules for stray dice.
- Play a practice round.
A cup or bowl stops dice rolling under furniture.
How do you set up street craps with friends?
Two dice, a wall or backboard to hit, and agreed fade rules. Decide whether the shooter must cover all bets and how side bets work. Clear terms keep street craps and cee-lo Canada games friendly.
Rotate the shooter clockwise after a seven-out.
Use fair odds on point side bets: 2:1, 3:2 and 6:5.
Keep stakes small and settle after every decision.
Play chips avoid cash disputes and keep the focus on the dice, which is the point of a friendly game of street craps.
Can you play cee-lo online?
Not at licensed casinos yet; free cee-lo apps exist, such as the Cee-Lo Dice listing on Canada’s App Store. Licensed online dice options are craps, sic bo and live dice shows. Online street craps and cee-lo Canada play is mostly social for now.
Free apps use play coins, not money.
A live-casino version of Headcrack may follow its land-based launch.
Our craps rules page covers the online casino version of two-dice play.
Check any app’s age rating and in-app purchases.
Which tips help new players?
Learn the instant wins and losses first, use the odds tables on this page, bet against the shooter only if everyone agrees, take your turn as banker and never chase losses. These habits keep street craps and cee-lo Canada games fair.
- Agree every rule before rolling.
- Know the fair odds for point bets.
- Rotate the bank and the shooter.
- Use chips, not cash, at casual games.
- Stop when the agreed budget is gone.
The math favours the bank and the fader slightly; rotation shares it.
Where can Canadians play legal dice games?
At provincially licensed casinos that offer craps or sic bo, and at regulated online casinos with craps, sic bo and live dice shows. Ontario players use iGaming Ontario sites; others use provincial sites or licensed operators. Legal play is the safe route for street craps and cee-lo Canada fans.
Our online slots in Ontario page lists regulated sites, most of which carry dice games too.
Live dealer dice games stream real dice from studios.
Casino entry starts at 19 in most provinces, and at 18 in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec.
Set limits before playing any game for money.
Where does cee-lo come from?
China, by name: Wikipedia traces it to the Chinese for four-five-six, and versions spread to Japan as chinchirorin and to North American streets as “dice”. PR Newswire says it lived outside regulated gaming for more than a century. Its travels shaped street craps and cee-lo Canada players inherit.
Classic game books, including The New Complete Hoyle, describe its rules.
A San Francisco games book also records local versions, Wikipedia’s sources show.
Japanese gambling stories helped spread chinchirorin worldwide.
New York street culture made “dice” and “headcrack” household words.
Why is cee-lo tied to hip-hop culture?
It grew up on New York streets alongside the music, and artists talk about it openly: 50 Cent says the game “lived on the corner” for a hundred years, Yahoo reports, and Wu-Tang’s U-God has explained it on video. Music keeps street craps and cee-lo Canada interest alive.
Video explainers by musicians and fans draw hundreds of thousands of views.
50 Cent previewed Headcrack on Instagram before G2E, Casino.org notes.
Song lyrics have name-checked cee-lo for decades.
The culture link is part of Headcrack’s pitch to younger players.
What happens on a tie in cee-lo?
It depends on the group: in banking games a player who matches the banker’s point often pushes, while winner-take-all games usually hold a roll-off between tied players. Ties come up 13.9% of the time against a set point, by our sums. Tie rules are a classic street craps and cee-lo Canada argument.
Pushes return the player’s stake.
Roll-offs add drama but extend the round.
Headcrack adds a separate Tie bet to profit from ties.
Agree the rule before money is on the table.
What does the banker do between rounds?
If the same player keeps the bank, they may add money to the stake or let it stand at whatever remains after bets are settled, Wikipedia explains; then players fade again. Bank management is a skill in street craps and cee-lo Canada games.
A larger bank attracts more fades and more action.
A shrinking bank signals a run of losses.
Cap the bank to keep a friendly game friendly.
Settle every bet before the next round starts.
How do dice-game edges compare?
Street cee-lo gives the banker about 2.47% and street craps gives the fader 1.41%, by our sums; casino craps’ pass line carries 1.41% and sic bo’s big and small bets 2.78%, the standard figures. Edges are small but real across street craps and cee-lo Canada games.
| Bet | Edge | Who holds it |
|---|---|---|
| Street craps, fading the shooter | 1.41% | Fader |
| Cee-lo, banking | 2.47% | Banker |
| Casino craps, pass line | 1.41% | Casino |
| Sic bo, big or small | 2.78% | Casino |
In street games the edge goes to a player; in casinos it goes to the house.
Why do three-dice games feel faster?
Every round can end on one throw with an instant win or loss, and side bets settle each roll; even with re-rolls, a cee-lo turn averages two throws. PR Newswire says Headcrack’s single-roll format maximises action. Speed defines street craps and cee-lo Canada play.
Faster rounds mean more bets per hour, which magnifies any edge.
Pausing between rounds keeps the pace under control.
Count rounds rather than minutes to track the total you bet in street craps and cee-lo Canada sessions.
Set a round limit for casual games.
Which mistakes do new cee-lo players make?
Mixing rule sets, misreading which die sets the point, forgetting that pair-plus-6 wins and pair-plus-1 loses, and assuming ties push. Each causes disputes. Learn the table before playing street craps and cee-lo Canada style.
- Reading 2-2-5 as a point of 2 instead of 5 in standard rules.
- Treating 1-2-3 as a re-roll.
- Forgetting triples rank by value.
- Betting before rules are agreed.

How do you teach cee-lo in five minutes?
Explain three things: 4-5-6, triples and pair-with-6 win; 1-2-3 and pair-with-1 lose; any other pair sets a point from the odd die, and everything else is re-rolled. That is the whole core of street craps and cee-lo Canada beginners need.

How do you teach street craps in five minutes?

- Show the come-out results.
- Set a point and roll it out.
- Explain fading and side bets.

What does the casino version change for players?
A dealer runs the game, the casino banks it with a published pay table, and side bets add new options; the edge moves from the street banker to the house. Players lose the chance to bank but gain regulated, consistent rules. That is the trade-off as street craps and cee-lo Canada culture goes legit.
Published pay tables let players compare edges bet by bet.
Automated dice options remove disputes over throws.
Regulators test the game before it reaches the floor.
Expect the house to price side bets with a bigger margin than main bets.
What is a seven-out?
Rolling a 7 after a point is set, which ends the shooter’s turn with a loss. The 7 comes up 6 ways in 36, more than any point, so most turns end this way, by our sums. It is the moment street craps and cee-lo Canada crowds groan at.
After a seven-out, the dice usually pass to the next shooter.
On the come-out roll, the same 7 is a winner instead.
Faders win their even-money bets on a seven-out.
Side bets on the point lose on a seven-out.
How do side bets work in street craps?
Any two players can bet on whether the shooter makes the point, at odds they agree; PokerNews notes side bets are common and unlimited. Using the fair odds of 2:1, 3:2 and 6:5 keeps them even. Side bets add action to street craps and cee-lo Canada nights.
| Point | Fair payout on a 10 bet that the point is made |
|---|---|
| 4 or 10 | 20 |
| 5 or 9 | 15 |
| 6 or 8 | 12 |
Even-money side bets on a 4 or 10 heavily favour the player betting against the point.
What does a 2.47% banker edge mean over a night?
If players fade 50 rounds at 10 each against the same banker, the banker’s average gain is about 12 over the night, by our sums; swings of ten times that are normal. Small edges hide behind big swings in street craps and cee-lo Canada games.
| Rounds of 10 faded | Banker’s average gain |
|---|---|
| 50 | 12.35 |
| 100 | 24.70 |
| 500 | 123.50 |
Rotating the bank is the simplest way to keep things fair.
